A Will – required or, not
There are lots of things that we tend to ignore, just because of the hassles that we have to got through to get it done. But a lot of these things are extremely important at times, in legal terms.’, ‘
There used to be days when the television was full of advertisements on social concerns, trying to awaken people to their rights. These advertisements have died over the years giving way the ones that would generate revenues for the corporates and the television channels.
With the death of these advertisements, people have also started to forget what their social responsibilities are. The birth and death registrations and marriage registrations have gone down and so are a lot of other basic responsibilities. Is it because we do not understand the implications of these? If I am asked this question, my answer would be partially, “yes”. This is because, a major chunk of people doing this is being of ignorance to the implications but there are other who know these implications, yet prefer not to do it, because they think these are the least important things in life.
We must understand that,
- A birth and death registration is a must and is helpful in maintaining proper records of these incidents with the governments.
- A registered will, nominating the legal heirs for your property come in handy in case of transferring of disputed property under the probate law. Such property disputes are very disturbing and could go upto the extent of the rightful heir loosing control of the property.
- Marriage registrations serve as a legal document of marriage and can be used in Insurance claims, if any arises and other such situations which demand a proof of marriage.
I wish that the television rolls back to the olden days when it was a medium of creating awareness amongst people so that at least we know what our rights and responsibilities are.
