This is a poem written by some anonymous person on the effects of drinking and driving. There could have been many such instances that we might not even have known. But the pain that the person who has suffered that loss is going through would be un-imaginable. For all those who drink and drive, let this poem be an eye-opener.

I went to a party Mom,
I remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mom,
So I drank soda instead.

I really felt proud inside, Mom,
The way you said I would.
I didn’t drink and drive, Mom,
Even though the others said I should.

I know I did the right thing, Mom,
I know you are always right.
Now the party is finally ending, Mom,
As everyone is driving out of sight.

As I got into my car, Mom,
I knew I’d get home in one piece.
Because of the way you raised me,
So responsible and sweet.

I started to drive away, Mom,
But as I pulled out into the road,
The other car didn’t see me, Mom,
And hit me like a load.

As I lay there on the pavement, Mom,
I hear the policeman say,
“The other guy is drunk,” Mom,
And now I’m the one who will pay.

I’m lying here dying, Mom….
I wish you’d get here soon.
How could this happen to me, Mom?
My life just burst like a balloon.

There is blood all around me, Mom,
And most of it is mine.
I hear the medic say, Mom,
I’ll die in a short time.

I just wanted to tell you, Mom,
I swear I didn’t drink.
It was the others, Mom.
The others didn’t think.

He was probably at the same party as I.
The only difference is, he drank
And I will die.

Why do people drink, Mom?
It can ruin your whole life.
I’m feeling sharp pains now.
Pains just like a knife.

The guy who hit me is walking, Mom,
And I don’t think it’s fair.
I’m lying here dying
And all he can do is stare.

Tell my brother not to cry, Mom.
Tell Daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, Mom,
Put “GOOD BOY ” on my grave.

Someone should have told him, Mom,
Not to drink and drive.
If only they had told him, Mom,
I would still be alive.

My breath is getting shorter, Mom.
I’m becoming very scared.
Please don’t cry for me, Mom.
When I needed you, you were always there.

I have one last question, Mom.
Before I say good bye.
I didn’t drink and drive,
So why am I the one to die?

Beside the river flowing,
Underneath the tree,
I used to see her everyday,

How would the last minutes of life be? What is it that my heart and mind would be going through? At times I wonder what it would be like when you know you are about to leave this beautiful world, or is it an ugly world?’, ‘

As the deep breathes, you hear no more,
And slight gasps take their place,
As my heart beats subsides,
As if they forgot their pace,
There are no more words, mouth can speak,
And all you hear are sighs of despair,

There are lots of people who come into our life and then move out and we don”t even realize when they went away.At times when we sit down and think of then we feel nostalgic.A poem on my lost friends.’, ‘

I once arranged that shelf of mine,
That shelf of mine with books I love,
And I read,
And I read through every line,
To the last page from the first,
Books that I had read through,
And would want to touch again,
Books that were chapters in my life,
Chapters of joy and sorrows,
Happiness and pain,

Of friends and relations,
Of people who had come into my life,
Like a cool wind or, breeze,
And gave me that warmth I ever longed for,
And people who suddenly went out of my life,
I don”t know where, I don”t know why,
Away they went to far off places,
Where my letters and messages could never fly,

Leaving those chapters behind,
Chapters that I arranged as books,
And put into that shelf of mine,
Books that I had completed,
And would want to read, when I am,

This is one of my alltime favorite poems that I wrote on the consequences of a war. Who stand to win at the end of the war – is it the victor, or the looser. I wonder who.

The smoke had subsided,
And the noises dead,
Some of them rejoiced,
And yet others fled,
Victory for some,
And loss for the other,
I wonder, Oh! God,
Who were the looser?
And who were the others.

I saw an old man,
Against his stick, stooping,
Barely could he walk,
Searching for something,
He was on the victors” side,
Yet he had lost something,
I wonder, Oh! God,
Is he a looser who lost everything?
Or, a victor who gained nothing.

I saw a woman in a corner,
Quiet she was, yet sobbing,
No shoulder to lay her head on,
Ahead lay, a life so tiring,
She was on the looser” side,
Whom did she loose to,
She was wondering,
I wonder, Oh! God,
What game is this,
That a looser loses once and for all
And a victor gains none at all.

I saw a child in her bed,
Innocence in her eyes bearing,
Waiting for her father to come,
Sweet tunes of lullaby bearing,
I wonder, which side she was,
She had not played a thing,
And yet she had lost it all,
I wonder, Oh! God,
Why do we play game like these,
Where victors don”t stand,
And looser don”t fall.
The war had ended,
And home they went all,
The child slept silent,
Not knowing why she lost at all.

There are moments in life when we feel, only if we could do everything we wanted today itself. What is “Tomorrow never comes”? This is a poem I wrote, one such evening when I felt so…’, ‘

Today,
I stretched my hands far along
And I yearned to embrace the air with my arms,
To feel powerful as a colossus,

The shadows in life can be seen at the same time on some peoples face and behavior. The face of a woman is probably the best mirror to it. An ode to the strongest power on earth-the woman…’, ‘

I see her at times,
There sitting lonely,
Nothing she utters nor, whispers,
A statue so so, stonily,
And I wonder what she is,

Or, is she, “The lady of the dark”.

Her face narrates stories lot,
And her smiles sing songs a lot,
A melancholy tune at times it is,
That sadness had brought,
And then a tune so happy,
That no teachers ought taught.

She is a question at times

And then she is the answer,
Sobs sounds like weeping chimes,
In the anklets of a tired dancer.

There I see her, crying in solitude sometimes,

And then I see her, smiling away to glory,
She lifts her face, and smile at times,
A smile so deep that narrates a story,
No, she is not the “Solitary Reaper”,
Nor, is she “The Lady of the dark”,
I wonder and wonder what she is,
A story so different and a story untold,
Unheard ever and a kind seldom written.

I once made a garden.
In front of my house, I made a garden,
A garden full of flowers,
A garden full of colors,
My garden had lilies and my garden had roses,
It had some poems, and you could also find some proses,
Flowers in my garden were rare to be seen,
A flower called life that was beautiful,
And a flower called death that looked like a devil,
A flower called joy, that smiled away to glory,
And a flower called sorrow that could change the face of any story,
There was a flower called happiness,
Who had a friend called sadness,
In a corner could you find a flower called envy,
who was dark in color,
And beside her you could find, a flower called humble
who was fair in color,
I also had a flower called beauty, you would like to admire,
And somewhere you could find a called ugly,
who would turn its face in despair,
Flowers in my garden would always bloom,

Wilt they would never ever,

We come across lot of pretty faces in our life. But when we look through them we find that they are so ugly that it seems better to keep them inside your heart locked away from the world.

When the sky is painted orange,
And the chariot of darkness begins to fly,
When the birds are flying back to their nests,
And the earth slides into the blanket of evening to rest,
I”ll paint a picture of you,
A picture of you, with no colors,
With no strokes and no brushes,

Without a shade and without a pencil,
You as beautiful as ever,
No wrinkles and no scars,
As bright as the moon and friendly as the stars,

Lest someone peeps into it,
And finds you as scary and ugly as you are,
