A couple of days back there was an interesting article in one of the leading dailies. It was about the usage of a title in the name. The article was around the usage of Miss and Mrs as the title to a lady’s name.

There were a lot of views from a lot of celebrities. Everybody had a different take on it with most of the so called successful ladies saying that it was improper to use one of the above titles. The reason being quoted were very funny indeed. One of these successful ladies said that it revealed the marital status of a lady and when a man used Mr as his title, there was no such revelation. If ladies are to use either a Miss or, a Mrs, in their names then there should be something similar for their male counterparts as well so that it is revealed if he is married or, not. Funny arguments, isn’t it?

Yet another successful woman said, the use of one of these titles in their name leads to the exploitation of a woman because people would then get to know if they are married or, not and take advantage of them.

After reading through the entire article, I was surprised at the thoughts of these successful ladies. Does it really matter as to what is it that you are using as your title? It does not. A woman I one of the finest creations of god. She was created much more powerful than a man. The strength might not be physical but it was emotional and mental strength that she was stronger in. Does this strength of her dry away if she uses a Mrs in her name? Of course not. She will be respected for what she is. It does not really matter as to what your title is. The choice would be specific to a lady. Let her take her own decision as to what is it that she wants to use as her title.

These successful ladies with there idiotic thoughts are the main obstacle to the growth of the other women in the society. They trigger these kind of unnecessary thoughts and prompt to fight for unnecessary things thus triggering a conflict between the two sexes.

My request to them is, please work towards the growth of women. Do not waste your time and resources in unnecessary discussions like the “Title of a person”.

Traffic-snarls were not a rare scene in the city of Delhi till about a few years back.It was normal to spend about an hour or, so at each traffic intersections, if it had a signal and more than a couple of hours if, the intersection had no signals. It was then that the government sanctioned the Metro-rail project and this changed the face of the city.

The Metro-rail symbolizes the advent of technology. It is the face of technological revolution. What is worth admiring is the way the DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation), which is entrusted with the construction of these Metro-rails, carries out the work even in the busiest of roads. They ensure that there is no obstruction to the traffic and still they are able to do their work. The fact that almost all of their projects are completed within time and budget is admirable.

One would wonder as to how they manage to do this. This is largely facilitated by the use of pre-cast structures. Precast structures have changed the face of construction. The use of Precast Concrete helps ensure that the actual place of use of the structure is kept free of the mess involved in constructing the structure. in addition to this, a precast structure also provides increased strength and durability.

These days, precast concrete is not just being used in large public projects, but are also being used in construction of private buildings and houses. Precast roofs, Precast Concrete Septic Tanks etc. are amongst the most commonly used structures in such constructions. Precasting had changed the face of constructions for good. Now we can stay far off from the messy picture of concreting, thanks to Precast Concrete.

The Delhi Transport Corporation is finally going through a renovation. The baking oven kind of buses are now bein replaced with cooler buses.’, ‘

The Delhi Transport Corporation is said to be the largest bus network in Asia. But the condition in which this transport system was maintained did not live upto this. A travel in one of the DTC buses was a nightmare but a lesser one as compared to the privately owned and run ”Blueline” buses.

A shabby conductor sitting in one corner of a hot baking oven, with less or, no interest in handing over a ticket to the commuter is a normal scenario. The driver would not bother to stop the bus even at bus stops where there is a long queue of people waiting to board the bus. As far as the buses were concerned there maintenence was worth appreciating.

Once, I was standing next to a DTC bus when i was accidently pushed by a passer-by and I fell over to the side of the bus. The metal body of the bus was in such a shape that I ended up getting a couple of stitches in my arm. No bus was without a torn body. A travel in one of these buses which were the so-called ”Lifeline” of Delhi transport was nothing less than a horrifying dream. Add to it the hot summers in Delhi, when you de-board the baking oven you would be smelling sweat, rather a mixture of sweat, your and your co-passengers.

The time is now changing for the Delhi Transport Corporation. After the introduction of the beautiful green low-floor buses which were a respite to the commuters, DTC has now introduced a few A/C buses. red in color, elegantly designed these buses would be a respite from the humid summers in Delhi. Kudos to the Delhi government.

The Indian Government has again and again proved to be inefficient in handling terrorist attacks and innocent citizens are facing the consequences.

In one of my earlier post I had discussed about the blast at Mumbai. Its is been more than a year since then, and here we have the latest blast at Jaipur. In this long one year our government is yet to start their initiatives against these terrorists. Condolences, political visits to the site and everything else is still on, but ask them what is the action they have taken to prevent these things from happening again and you would not find an answer. At times I wonder what could be the reason to this? Probably the reason is that in the recent past there has been no instances of terrorist attacks or, blasts where a renowned politician has been killed. Oh! so that says it all. Then what is the need to panick and ponder over security measures. Just relax my dear politicians, till it happens.

Just a couple of days before the blasts, there was news that the Border Security Force thwarted an attempt by infiltrators aided by the Pakistan military enter the Indian territory. The next day, they confirmed that indeed, there were a couple of terrorists who have probably managed to get into the Indian terrirtory. On the 2nd day of this incident, the blasts happened. Our efficient government did not for even once feel that these attacks would have been carried out by these infiltrated terrorists. Instead they are chasing some Bangladeshi outfit called ”HUJI” which they believe was behind the blasts. isn”t it ridiculous. It is almost 2 weeks since the blasts and there is no progress. Alas! what could be done but watch. Probably wait and watch, fearing and praying that another blast doesn”t happen.

Our politicians have now turned moral police. A group of people who are unable to do their primary duties turning moral police is indeed funny?’, ‘

Camera….Lights…..Action…..

You would now not be able to see your favorite character on the big screen drinking or, even holding a glass of wine or, champagne. For a moment just imagine, the thespian actor Dilip Kumar, or, Shah Rukh Khan in the role of ”Devdas” without the glass of whisky. Imagine a dialogue where Devdas says that, “Ma asked me to forget Paro, The world now askes me to forget drinking”, without the word “drinking” in it. Wondering why all this imagination!!!!

Thanks to our beloved health minister, Mr. Anbumoni Ramadoss, who these days have nothing to do. After having ousted his biggest rival Venugopal, the AIIMS chief, it seems he is short of work these days. So he thought why not see what the Indian film industry is doing these days.

Isn”t it surprising to see a health minister doing these foolish things. Shouldn”t they set their own home right before playing a moral police on these silly things? Out very own netas are often seen eating Tobacco, chewing pan, smoking in public places and what not. Our dear health minister has not been able to do much on it and is now planning to control all this on the big screen. Probably he realizes that these so-called “LEADERS” are no leaders that the youth want to emulate.

The Indian government is busy implementing measures to reduce traffic congestion on Delhi roads in preparation to the Commonwealth Games. But how far are these measures relevant?’, ‘

Another 100 Crore has been wasted and another huge and much hyped about project is on the verge of abandonment. The BRT corridor has turned out to be a major flop with traffic congestion increasing and utter chaos ruling on the stretch. The efficiency of the planners in the government is under question again. Was this required?

Why is it that measures to reduce traffic congestion are proving to be in-effective? There are multiple reasons to it.

• The first and foremost is that adequate research of the situation in hand is not done and a plan is drawn which when implemented throws everything in tantrums.
• Projects are designed and implemented, not for the benefit of the people or, to reduce traffic congestion but to ensure that the ministers and member of parliaments get a smooth ride. the biggest proof of this is the flyovers constructed in the past few years. Not one of them has helped in reducing traffic jams but only helps people who normally travel long distance and who else are such users but ministers.
• The actual problem on Delhi roads is being ignored and we are constructing projects that would partially benefit the private companies involved in the constructions and also the honorable ministers approving these plans. The root cause for the traffic congestions is ”Bad traffic sense” in the citizens. Honking unnecessarily, overtaking from the wrong side, jumping red lights, violating lane driving rules are all examples of this. Why can”t we have stringent and stricter traffic laws and traffic training for violators?

The failure of the BRT corridor is not the first failed project, rather it is the first such project to be highlighted. There are multiple such other projects which nobody dared to talk about. It is high time that our government take worthful measure to reduce the traffic congestion, if there are genuinely willing to do so.

What is the impact of taxes on the general public? How does the tax structure affect the middle class? How is it that a layman would realize this?’, ‘

I have been a tax payer from the 3rd year that I started to work. I used to pay 20% of what i earned in the first 2 years and then 30% of my earnings since the 3rd year of my career. Appraisals would not make much of a change to my salary because a more that proportionate amount would be deducted as TDS (tax deducted at source) and when I get my salary, the amount would be much like what I was getting normally.

Every financial year end would see a harakiri – a hasteful run to invest in whatever options possible and as much as possible so that I save something at least. But even after investing till the prescribed limit, which was not too much and was the maximum that I could when I end up paying 30% of my hard-earned money as Income tax, there would be a pinch somewhere in my heart and a pain, more so when I see that I don”t even get the basic facilities that I deserve from my government.

With the new Income tax structure being announced I sat down to calculate how that would impact my financial freedom and I was surprised to see that it actually made a huge impact on the net income that I earned. Though the changes overall in the tax structure was not too much, the net impact was huge. this is when I realized as to what is the impact that the tax has on me.

It is true that we ignore many a things just because they are tiny and small and not worthy of a thought. But we do not realize that these small things actually has a vey large impact on our lives and is omething that needs much more attention and consideration.

How is it when you move from a small town to a big city? What are the changes that you go through and how difficult is it to adapt to these  changes.’, ‘

I still remember that day at college. The elections were just over and the president and other office bearers were rejoicing their win in the elections. The other junior office bearers were to be elected. The elected office bearers walked into the hall where we were all seated and took their respective seats.

The lecturers panel walked in. A peon walked in with a couple of covers with something in it. A sigh of awe struck the entire hall when he pulled something out of the packets. They were specially designed blazers in a brown shade for the office bearers. This was happening for the first time in the history of the college. The next few days saw everyone waiting for a trial wear of the balzer. Pictures were being clicked wearing these blazers as if there was no tomorrow.

My college was in a small town where the term “latest” meant whatever came to our town, irrespective of when it came. That day at college was the first day when we saw a blazer being worn.

It is only a few years that I moved to this city now. This city is the capital city of the country and so people knew what latest meant. Winter was in and people in my office had started flaunting fashionable winter wears. I had just entered my office and I saw one of my friends wearing a beautiful blazer. I thought about the day I saw that first blazer at college. I was inquisitive and happened to ask him how much it cost. He quoted an amount that I would not even think of spending on a blazer. What was more surprising for me was the fact that not a single person in the whole office was impressed by this blazer as I was. It was something normal for them. It took me a while to realize that I was a small town chap lost in a big city.But ask me and i would say that I would still love to be a one of those awestruck ignorant small town chap who couldn”t stop gazing at a beautiful blazer because I have learnt that the transformation from a small town chap to a city guy requires loosing your innocence more than anything.

The picture of bodies lying scattered here and there is not new to any NEWS channel in India because we are probably the worst terrorism affected countries in the world. Terrorists can walk into anything and anywhere and plant a bomb which will go off killing scores. The NEWS channels, the government and we the people would mourn for the dead for a few days and then forget everything and move on as if nothing happened only to see the same thing again in a few days.

The below photograph is one such blast from Uttar Pradesh. All that we could see in all the NEWS channels were dying people and agony all around. The State government has the Central government and the Intelligence agencies to blame and the vice versa. But what about the people who died and who were injured, some injured to such an extent that they would be handicapped for life. What is it that they get, a compensation of Rs.50,000 from the state government. Is that enough?

We have always been crying that other powerful countries are not supporting our cause to fight terrorism, but what is it that we have done to curb it except for providing more means of infiltration from across the border. When will we come out of this self-built safety circle called diplomacy.

How many more such blasts will we see? Bleed my country till you can.

A common scene while you are driving, at any crossing in Delhi is that of a group of beggars pouncing onto the vehicles at these crossings, the moment the light turns red. You wonder at what is happening at times because these people don’t even care that they could be run over by a vehicle if it doesn’t halt for some reason. The same is the situation when the light turns green. They are still there in the middle of the road not bothered about the heavy traffic.
Another common scene at these crossings is a SIGNBOARD reading “”Do not encourage beggary””. The government is bothered about the rising numbers of beggars.I am very happy to realize this fact when I see this signboard. But are we doing enough to stop the increasing number of beggars.

I was driving and came to a halt at a red-light crossing. Suddenly a girl jumped in front of my car projecting a worsely burnt arm and asking for some help. The hand was so badly burnt that a mixture of a watery secretion and pus was dripping from it. I was taken aback for a second and as she started pushing her hand into my car, I shouted at her to stand back. There was a kind policeman standing on the side of the road to whom I gestured as to what this was and why he was not doing anything. He replied, “”Kuch dekar ravaana kar do”” meaning “”Let go by giving something””. I could not do anything but smile and as I dropped a 2 rupee coin into the girls hands, I read a white sign board reading, “”PLEASE DO NOT ENCOURAGE BEGGARY””.
